SPY

Very simply, Indocyanine Green is a fluorescent agent binds to the protein in blood and circulates through the body. During the procedure, ICG is exposed to the laser light source enclosed in the imaging head of the device which causes it to emit light, which is then captured as an image by the SPY digital camera system.

As you can see here, during the procedure, the surgeon positions the camera above the chest about 12 inches from the heart. Following the positioning of the camera anesthesia or perfusion, injects the ICG imaging agent and an assistant, either a circulator or a perfusionist initiates the capture of a 30 second sequence with the push of one button. The images can be reviewed immediately following capture. Each capture takes approximately 2 minutes and typically 4-5 images are captured during the normal course of CABG.
